EMERGING/EMERGENT CHURCH - NYOBS 14.06

RABBIT TRAIL FROM NYOBS 14 - ANOTHER GOSPEL

THE EMERGING or EMERGENT CHURCH – RABBIT TRAIL
  • Takes its name from the changing ideas in our modern cultures – The Catholic Church gave rise to these pagan spiritual practices which have now permeated into most dominations.
  • The old forms of the Gospel no longer communicates with the new generation of today and therefore new modes of expressing the Gospel to a post modern mindset are needed.
  • The Social Gospel – Fix things in this world now - This movement contains a great diversity in beliefs and practices, sacred rituals, missionary living, good works and political and social activism, with a high emphasis on the Kingdom of Heaven is “here and now”.
  • Subjectivity over objectivity - The deconstruction of modern Christian thinking; Scriptures are not inspired, but are only from the minds of men - Systematic Theology prevents unity.
  • Images over words“Doctrines Divide”; The Bible is watered down and compromised in order to unify and not offend the seeker.
  • Feelings over truth - Personal experience defines and interprets what truth actually is.
  • Spirituality over ReligionUnity among people from different religions and ethnic backgrounds.  Everyone is connected to God – All worship same God, just different names.
  • Outward over inwardDiversity and cross pollination of religious traditions in the expression of corporate worship makes you a better Christian.
  • Breath Prayers; Chanting, God is breath – (Buddhist and Hindu Gods.)
  • Nobody goes to Hell Emphases that God Repairs, Refines, Rebuilds and Rebirths.
Matt 7:15-20
15 "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. NIV
2 Cor 6:14-16
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?
16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?
1 Cor 10:20

20 No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. NIV
