DEVINE ELECTION - NYOBS 07.12

RABBIT TRAIL FROM NYOBS 7 - ESCHATOLOGY

DEVINE ELECTION – RABBIT TRAIL
  • God elects to save some and send others to hell. – What a  heavy statement !
  • Doesn’t the potter have the right to make a utensil for worship and a different one for feeding the puppies.
  • Devine election along with Free Will are both taught in the scriptures.
  • Devine election in the Scriptures seem to apply only to the Jew, not to the Gentiles.
  • God chose Abraham, who did not know him, to be set apart - God’s Election
  • He chose his younger son over his older son to be blessed – God’s Election
  • “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated” – God’s Election
  • God will decimate Russia and its coalition of states when they invade Israel – God’s Election. God sees His plan from the end to the beginning.
  • God’s grace is in Devine Election to bless those He wants to.  It’s Man’s Free Will that gets him in on this blessing too.
  • The scriptures say God is not “a respecter of persons”, therefore he does not send some to hell and some not.  All are treated the same. - Yes, there is Devine Election and there is also Free Will.
Rom 11:5 – DEVINE ELECTION
5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.
Rom 9:10
10 Not only that, but Rebekah's children had one and the same father, our father Isaac.
11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad-in order that God's purpose in election might stand:
12 not by works but by him who calls-she was told, "The older will serve the younger." NIV
15 "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."  NIV
18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden. NIV
21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use NIV

Rom 2:6-11 – FREE WILL
6 And if by grace, then it is no longer by works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. NIV
7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.
8 But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.
9 There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile;
10 but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
11 For God does not show favoritism. NIV
Rom 2:6
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds KJV
Rom 2:11
11 For there is no respect of persons with God. KJV
Rom 10:12-13
12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile-the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." NIV
John 3:16
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. NIV
Deut 30:19
19 This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.
