·         Jesus began our faith so that we could defeat Satan and gain everlasting life and it is Him that will finish the faith in His perfect timing.
·         Our faith is based on the substance we believe in and hope for, but have never seen except in our spirits.  It grows by reading God’s Word and speaking it daily into our spirit.
·         When we operating in Faith, we please God.  He will reward those who diligently read His Word and seek his face.  We have no idea of the power that is released by our faith -  Little faith, little power.
·         It is the believing when we pray that determines the results. It’s in the Book

·         We are warned that when our life expands to include an awesome good paying job, houses, cars and things that we will see ourselves as the one with all the wisdom, knowledge, charm and appeal and we will forget about God and His blessings. – Take care lest you forget the Lord and all His benefits.

Do the Word - Hunger and Thirst

·         Jesus is the living bread of heaven and those who partake of this bread shall live forever.  This bread will satisfy and cause goodness and mercy to surround us.  When we are pleasing God, He promises to feed us so we will stay strong.  In fact, we will have so much to eat that we can’t help but praise His name.
·         Jesus is our bread of life.  - We receive a special blessing when we hunger and thirst after His Word.  It satisfies like a Prime Rib steak with some fine wine, but without price; free and renews our strength like an eagle.
·         Note; A worn out Eagle will go and sit on a stump and molt; his feathers will fall off and new ones will grow back.  As he rests, his strength is restored like in his youth and with the new feathers and the renewed vitality, he will lift his wings and soars off into the skies.

Do the Word – Teach it – Lest we forget
·         Studying God’s Word no only lets us prosper and surrounds us with favor, but it enables us to stand against the tricks of Satan.  God does not want a lukewarm Christian, one that has forgotten the zeal that he had when he was new in Christ.
·         When our stomach is full and our house is in good repair and our business is flourishing, we are warned to not forget that it is our God that blesses us and not something of ourselves.
·         We are to continue to remember our God and teach His ways to our children.  If we forget God and turn from His ways, our end will be worse than our beginning.  It would be better never to have accepted God’s ways.

Do the Word - Share your Faith
·         It is a denial of our Faith if we are not providing for our family spiritually.  We are to talk the Word to our children all day long.  When we speak God’s Word, we should speak in belief that the Words are true and have faith that those things spoken according to the Word will come to pass.
·         God spoke the world into existence, Jesus spoke to the winds and sea and they became calm.  Speaking God’s Word brings healing to our bodies.  We have the power of life and death in our mouth.  What we say will come to pass.
·         We should believe in our heart the salvation of Jesus Christ and confess it with our mouths.  All we have to do to be saved is to believe on the name of Jesus Christ as our Personal Savior.
·         If we really believe, we will tell people about our Lord.  Don’t worry about what to say, just ask God for wisdom and he will give it to you.  He will put the right Words in your mouth.  We are God’s witnesses, we are the light of this world, and how can peoples see unless we let our light shine.
·         Everywhere we go we are to give our testimony of what God has done in our life.  We are to lift up a brother who has fallen into sin and encourage him in the Word.

15 Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

Do the Word – With your Gift
·         When Jesus went to live with the Father, He sent the Holy Spirit; the Comforter, to be with us and to guide us and show us things.  With this wonderful Baptism of the Holy Spirit comes the call for us to witness everywhere that we go. – In the beginning, repentance unto salvation and the Baptism were two separate events; now when you receive Jesus Christ into your life, YOU GET IT ALL.
·         As part of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, some may receive the gift of Tongues of which there are three kinds.
1.     Speaking in a known language that you do not know; this happened only once on the day of Pentecost and there is no record that it ever happened again.
2.     Pubic prophecy in an unknown language which someone else interprets for the Church. – This occurs, but not very often, but is found in the Pentecostal Denominations.
3.     A private prayer language between you and God; this occurs often; but only some have been given this gift. The baptism will allow our spirit to speak to the Holy Spirit in our prayer language, in a way we have never known before.  NYOBS 08.02 - TONGUES
·         Note:  I feel compelled to pause here and say that there is not two different classes of Christians; those who speak in tongues and those that do not. – There is only one class of Christian; the SAVED who are ALL filled with the Holy Spirit and have received at least one gift.  NYOBS 08.12 - GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT – NYOBS 20.36 - THE HOLY SPIRIT
·         Because of the filling of our hearts with the Holy Spirit, we will begin to speak boldly of our faith. -  When there is no teacher, the spirit will instruct us; when that is no water, we will drink; and when there is no food, we will be fed.
·         Putting God’s Word in us feeds our spirit, protects when we sleep, talks with us when we are awake and gives us a new way of life.  As we continually meditate on God’s Word, we will find that the things that we do will turn out good and we will have good success.
·         When the Word of God is in us, Words will run through us telling us what to do about each situation.  Committing our Work to God causes even our imagination and our visions to come to pass and to be a reality.
·         After we have trusted God, heard His truth, believe in our salvation, we become sealed with the promises of the Holy Spirit.  Because of this sealing we are not to grieve the Holy Spirit with wrong actions, but are to overcome evil with good.
John 16:7 – Jesus sent the Holy Spirit

John 16:12-13 – The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth
12 I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;

(ESV)
Ephesians 4:30 – Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (ESV)

Do the Word – Bear Fruit
·         You can tell a disciple of God by the fruit of his Love.  If you say you love God, but do not read or know his Word, then you are a liar.  For if we love God, we will obey His concepts as they are revealed by the studying of His Word.
·         When we receive Jesus as our Savior, we are declaring that we will obey the concepts He has written into His Word, we will serve Him.
·         God would like to use us just like the disciples of old, ministering to those who are sick and oppressed.  We are to operate in unity in one accord and singleness of heart.
·         It is written that we cannot continue to serve man and serve God also.  We are not to be man pleasers, but God pleasers.
·         We are transformed into a different person by studying God’s Word and renewing our mind.
John 13:34-35 – You will be known as a Disciple if you love
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
(ESV)
1 John 2:3-6 - Known as Disciple if you keep His Commandments
3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is A LIAR, and the truth is not in him,
5 but whoever keeps his Word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:
6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
(ESV)
Deuteronomy 10:12 – Fear God, Walk in His ways, Love, Serve

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
(ESV)

Do the Word – Give of your Money
·         Under the New Covenant we are no longer under the Law; specifically the law of the 10 percent Tithe.  - Now what I am about to say is going to sound like “Double Talk”, because I do find tithing is a New Covenant principal that has been made available to the Believer to be able to get in on what God is doing and share in the benefits through participation.
  • God sets aside the tithe for those that minister in the church in return for their work. – Scripture supports that you should not muzzle the ox while he is treading the grain; he is allowed to eat some; so PAY THE PEACHER !
  • The money is used to pay the Workers and for the maintenance of the Church. – A title is not just money; it’s what you have, which could be your time or your talent.
  • It would have been wonderful if it had been MY donkey that was given to Jesus to ride.
  • What if it had been YOU at the well that gave Jesus just a drink of water?
  • What if it the little boy that gave his lunch to Jesus to feed 5000 was your son?
  • Give what you have, not what you don’t have.  You are not supposed to go in to debt.
  • No matter how little you give or help; it’s ALL still unto the Lord.
  • Basic to tithing or giving is the acknowledgement of God’s ownership of everything on earth. We are to be faithful stewards of all that has been given to us.
  • We are blessed, therefore we give.
  • Tithing is our confession of our dependence on God and that we are faithful stewards of His creation.  - We consider others “first”. -  We give of our time “first” - We write His check “first” - We give the best of our “first” fruits. -  NYOBS 04.30 – TITHE
·         As we please God, He will give us things that we desire even though it may not be a need
·         Studying God’s Word is not a now and then thing.  It is something we are required to do every day.  It gives us wisdom, knowledge, joy and wealth. -  God wants us to have wealth so that He can fulfill His covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.  - We are reminded to study and do His Word daily so that we will remember where our wealth comes from.
·         It is God’s desire that we do well in our finances and indicates that the growth of our finances will be in direct proportion to how we study and increase in our knowledge of Him…
·         When we study God’s Word and do what He says, good things will start to happen in our lives.  There will be an increase in our productivity as well as the demand for what we do.  We will find favor wherever we go, and when people oppose our good works, God will run them off.
·         Blessings will pour out of heaven on our efforts and we will even have extra money to lend to others.
·         As we study God’s Word, there will be birthed in us a desire to get involved with our God Financially.  Instead of banking here on Earth we will be banking in heaven.  We should bring ten percent of the blessing God has given us to Church each Sunday.  If we withhold this tithe, God will call us robbers because the tithe is His.  As we become tithers, God will rebuke Satan and not allow him to touch our works.  People will have respect for us and call us blessed.  We can tithe with excitement knowing of the inheritance that is our reward.  We will become givers and others will give in abundance back to us.
·         It will become a joy and an excitement to find ways to give away your surplus and to help others.  When we give to others we are actually giving to ourselves.  So we are told to do the Word so that we may prosper.
·         If we lose anything for our Lord’s sake it will be returned 100 times over.  The things that we have are blessings from God. Think about trading one blessing for one hundred blessings.  We will spend our remaining days; our retirement in prosperity and pleasure.  This should encourage us to get started early with our tithing and giving.  - NYOBS 04.30 - TITHE
Neh 13:5 – Tithes for paying the workers

8 Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions.
9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.
10 Bring the FULL TITHE into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
11 I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the LORD of hosts.
12 Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the LORD of hosts. (ESV)
Colossians 3:23-24 – Do your work as if it is unto the Lord

8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (ESV)

Job 36:11 – Your retirement will be in prosperity pleasantness
11 If they listen and serve him, they complete their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasantness. (ESV)

Do the Word – Give of your time
·         While it is good to pray for those in need, it profits more if we do something about the need. We are to love in action as well as by prayer, finding ways to be involved with the orphans and widows and if we have extra clothes or food, we should give some to those who have none.  – There are many local organizations that clothe and feed the needy.
·         Consider spending your money on things that feed people spiritually.  Labor for the things that lift up your spirit.  Involve yourself in God’s service and your soul will become strong and fit.
·         As we feed the hungry, clothe the needy, visit the sick and house the stranger, we are doing it as unto the Lord.  God will remember our labor of love.  God gives us comfort in our tribulations so that we can give comfort to others when they are troubled.
·         Faith without works is a dead faith.  - It’s in the Book
James 2:15-16 – Give the things needed for the body
15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food,
16  and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?

1 John 3:16-18 – Love not only in talk but in deed and truth

Matthew 25:35-40 – What you do for others you do unto God
35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’
37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?
38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?
39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ (ESV)

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - Comfort those who are in any affliction
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,
4 who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. (ESV)

Do the Word – Exhibit Self-Control & Forgiveness
·         The Bible says that when we speak, that we are speaking of what is in our heart, therefore we should be in control of our tongue, because we are held accountable for every idle Word.
·         Un-forgiveness is often a tool used by Satan to separate us from the Father God. - Scripture says we must forgive other if we want to press on for the prize of the high calling. - We are to forgive; even if it is so many times that we lose count.
·         We are to imitate Jesus Christ who forgave and suffered patiently even though He did not sin nor let evil come out of His mouth.
·         He who doesn’t control his tongue is worthless – It’s in the Book -
James 1:26 – He who doesn’t control his tongue is worthless

23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. (ESV)

Do the Word – Accept Testing – Growth in Obedience
·         When there is sorrow and tears at night, we are to concentrate on things that are good; things that are of praise.  God promises that joy will come in the morning.
·         The Word of God is powerful and sharp and divides our soul from our spirit and addresses our thoughts and the intents of our heart… ( now think on that one)
·         Studying God’s Word gives us understanding; understanding gives us wisdom; wisdom gives us strength. - We are to meditate on God’s Word day and night and put into action what He has written. - God will cause us to be prosperous and successful. - He would rather have our obedience that our sacrifices, to obey Him rather than men.

22 And Samuel said, “Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams.
(ESV)

Do the Word – Obey Men’s Laws
·         We are to obey our parents and our employers, and carry out our responsibilities as unto the Lord.  The fact that we are free in Christ does not give us the right to break man’s law.  We are to submit to every law, this is the will of God
·         When man’s laws conflicts with God’s Laws we must choose God first; if you lose because of your choice, God will restore you.
Colossians 3:20-24 - Obey your parents in everything

14 or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.
15 For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.
16 Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.
17 Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.
19 For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly.
20 For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. (ESV)

24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. (ESV)

Do the Word – Avoid Temptation
·         Although we do the best we can to be a good person, the day will come when the time is just right and the place is just right and temptation will be set before you.  The temptation itself is not sin unless we yield to it.
·         We are not to condemn ourselves for the feelings that run through us concerning the temptation, because the temptation is a common thing to all people.  It’s the yielding that’s the problem; God will not allow the Christian to be tempted above their ability to resist; He will provide the strength needed to get out of the circumstance.
·         We have a high Priest, Jesus the Son of God who as a man experienced all the feelings, emotions and temptation that we have had, but yet did not yield.  We can go to Him for help in our time of need.
·         It is not God that temps us, but it is our own lusts that dominates our spirit and our bodies.  God’s Word would tell us not to look on sin; not to even think about it.  We are to walk away from temptations.
·         I reflect back on a time when everyone had left the room except for a beautiful young lady who was speaking to me softly on the topic of sex; she believed it was Ok between two Christians … She smelled so good and touched me often - I could feel myself slipping away – The phone rang and the spell was broken and I got up and left and went to my room and on my knees I cried out in tears before the Lord about emotions that I didn’t even know I had. Scripture flooded my mind; God had provided me with a way of escape that very day.
·         If we put God’s Word in our heart, we will not sin against Him. -  Sin will not have dominion over us.  Oh, the temptations and troubles will still come; you can count on that, but they will not be received in sorrow, but in joy because you have a way out.
·         As you pass through the situations, your faith grows stronger and your endurance is increased and God is pleased. -  As you operate in the strength of your faith, you are getting an opportunity to show off what you are made of in front of God.
·         Expect trouble in your life because of your new boldness and be happy as you are learning about how Jesus felt during His sufferings.  (And that is special.)
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 – God provides way of escape Temptation
12
Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.

Hebrews 4:14-16 – Jesus was tempted in every respect as us
14 Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
15  For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

James 1:13-14 – No one tempted by God – But of his own desire

Do the Word – Wait on God’s Timing
·         Waiting Patiently before God will cause Him to hear our needs.  Wait on God’s timing in your life, don’t get upset because others are advancing in their ways.  Just stay busy at what you do.
·         When we wait on God, our strength is renewed and we are able to press on to the goal.  We can do all things because of Gods strength.  We should remember that God does not look at situations the same way that we do, nor does He react the same way.  So we should not try to measure God’s actions by what our experience has been.
·         All things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose.  God’s ways are perfect and we must trust Him.  We must learn to wait on His perfect timing.  I would hate to get ahead of God’s timing and miss out on all that he has in store for me.

Reflection

I would like to share with you just how important God’s Word is to me…
40 Years ago before the personal computer, I read the entire Bible, making notes on a legal pad – Then I cut them out and laid them on my bed according to the topics it was addressing.
Then I would type them up and hand draw a box around them and cut them out again. –
Then I would paste them on a clean sheet of paper as they begin to paint a picture of a subject.
This is one of those Word Studies that has finally made it into the computer age.
I remained touched as I see what God wanted me to learn back then and to share with you now.
With that thought, Cut and Paste really takes on a different meaning.

In the multitude of counselors,
there is wisdom.
Proverbs 11:14

I am grateful to those that went before me providing concepts, ideas, historical information, and scripture verses.  Because of them I can stand on their shoulders and see further that I otherwise ever could have.
